Expanding on the Jam Entry

The Jam

The jam was probably - certainly, even - the best I've done yet! I got a product out which I'm proud of (this here little game) even though I faced adversity. Yesterday (Sunday), my computer crashed and all my files got corrupted (you'll know this if you were on the Mini Jam Discord)! Luckily, I was able to recover a backup at around 4PM - that's some hours lost! Luckily, I was able to recover. That's one reason why this jam has been great!

The concept I picked for the jam was surprisingly easy to make - at least, the core was - and I was able to achieve a full and fun game! That's the main reason I want to continue this project - It was fun to make and (hopefully) fun to play.

The Feedback

I got some really good feedback post-jam, and I've got some ideas on how to improve the project. The budget seems to have been hard to find  and to know it's purpose - a key function of the game is to manage your budget. People also said some text disappeared too fast, which is quite an easy fix. The music was generally viewed as okay, and a few people suggested updating it. A more varied list of scenarios was also suggested.

Patch 0.2

Building upon people's suggestions, these are the changes I'm going to implement in the first update for the game - 0.2:

  • Increased time for text on screen
  • Fix spelling mistakes
  • Add 6 more scenarios (one more for each crime)
  • Add a tutorial
  • Redo the main menu and in-game music

Please follow me or add the game to a collection if you want to be notified when I release the patch.
